TunnelQuiz is the proctoring-first alternative to TestGorilla.
TestGorilla is a skills-testing platform built around a library of more than 350 ready-made tests, with anti-cheating signals on every plan and ID verification on its top plan. TunnelQuiz has no test library. You write the test, and it puts its effort into watching how the test is taken: the candidate's whole screen is captured every minute on every plan, webcam snapshots and live monitoring start on Essential, and you can buy it monthly. If you want validated off-the-shelf tests, TestGorilla is the better fit. If you write your own questions and need evidence of what happened during the test, read on.
TestGorilla's Trust Layer, included on every plan, logs tab changes and full-screen exits, asks candidates to sign an honesty agreement and blocks known AI agents. Its FAQ says behavior monitoring doesn't record video, and that it works from ID checks and activity signals rather than webcams. A view of the candidate's screen isn't part of it. TunnelQuiz captures the whole screen every 60 seconds and each time the candidate comes back to the test tab, on every plan including Free, and flags a second display in Chrome and Edge.
02
Write your own test on any plan
On TestGorilla, building a test of your own is a Plus feature, and essay and file-upload custom questions are capped at 5 per assessment on Core (20 on Plus). The Free plan gets five preset questions you cannot edit. TunnelQuiz is built on your own questions: multiple choice, written answers, random pools and per-question timers on every plan, with CSV import of up to 500 rows. The trade-off is real, though. There is no ready-made library to start from.
03
No 12-month lock-in to worry about
TestGorilla's help center says its Core and Plus plans are billed annually upfront, with no monthly option, and extra credits you buy expire at the end of the contract. TunnelQuiz's Essential and Pro plans default to yearly billing at 12% off, but you can pay month to month instead, and the Free plan never asks for a commitment at all.

When a result is challenged, it helps to see what was on the screen. TunnelQuiz keeps the whole-screen captures, webcam snapshots on Essential and up, and a timeline of every flag, so you can show what happened instead of describing it.

Reason 02
Watch a test while it runs
TestGorilla's help center describes a behavior log and tiers you review once the candidate is done, and we found no live view. TunnelQuiz's live monitoring, from Essential, lists every candidate with their progress and flags as they come in. On Pro, Live Follow gives a live view of a candidate's test page as they work.

Frequently asked questions
Does TestGorilla verify candidate identity?
Yes, on its Plus plan. As of October 2026, TestGorilla's ID verification asks candidates to upload a government-issued ID and take a live selfie, checked by its partner Veriff, at 1 credit per candidate. It is not available on Free or Core. TunnelQuiz does not check ID documents: it offers an email one-time code on every plan, plus an SMS code and a check-in photo from Essential, and that photo is stored, not matched to an ID. If document-based ID checks are a requirement, TestGorilla's Plus plan does something TunnelQuiz does not.
Does TestGorilla record the candidate's screen?
No. Its Trust Layer logs tab and window changes and full-screen exits, blocks known AI agents and offers ID verification on Plus, and its FAQ says behavior monitoring doesn't record video. Screen capture isn't among its measures. TunnelQuiz captures the candidate's whole screen every 60 seconds and on each return to the test tab, on every plan. It takes screenshots, not a video recording.
How much does TestGorilla cost?
As of October 2026, TestGorilla's pricing page lists a Free plan with 10 credits a month, Core from US$215 a month and Plus from US$520 a month, both billed annually. Its help center says Core includes 250 credits, that paid plans are paid annually upfront with no monthly option, and that extra credits expire at the end of the contract. A candidate costs 1 credit for skills tests, with more for video questions, AI interviews and ID verification. Prices are shown in US dollars, with euros, pounds, Australian dollars and rupees also offered. Visitors in India are shown rupee prices: Core from ₹6,900 a month and Plus from ₹35,500 a month, billed annually.
How much does TunnelQuiz cost?
As of October 2026, TunnelQuiz has four plans: Free ($0, 50 credits a month that lapse at month end), Essential ($34 a month billed yearly, 150 credits a month, 5 seats), Pro ($87 a month billed yearly, 250 credits and 10 AI credits a month, 20 seats) and Business (quoted). Yearly billing is 12% off the monthly rate, and monthly billing is also available. Prices are in US dollars with no tax added. In India the same plans are ₹1,319 and ₹3,519 a month billed yearly, plus 18% GST. One credit is one candidate sitting, whatever proctoring is on. Unproctored tests are free on paid plans, paid credits roll over while you stay subscribed, and top-ups cost $0.38 a credit or less.
Which platform has a bigger test library?
TestGorilla, by a wide margin. It lists more than 350 skills tests on its paid plans. TunnelQuiz has no ready-made library: you write your own questions, import them from a CSV file, duplicate earlier tests, or generate questions from a brief or documents with AI on the Pro plan.
Does TestGorilla integrate with an ATS?
Yes, on its Plus plan, with native integrations for Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, BambooHR, Ashby and others, plus API access. TunnelQuiz has no ATS integrations or public API. Webhooks are available on its Business plan.
Do candidates need to install anything for TunnelQuiz?
No. Candidates open the test link in the browser and share their screen, and on Essential and up their camera too. Proctored tests need Chrome or Edge (or another Chromium-based browser) and do not run on iOS.
